Upon the onset of temporary disability during the period of annual paid leave, an allowance can be assigned only if the employee has lost his ability to work during his vacation due to illness or injury.

At the same time, the Labor Code of the Russian Federation obliges the employer, in the case of an employee’s personal injury that has occurred on vacation, to extend or reschedule the vacation for another time, determined by the employer, taking into account the wishes of the employee.

Thus, the HV allowance must be assigned and paid for the entire period of disability.

On the issue of recalculating the days of annual paid leave that coincide with the period of disability, the employee must contact the employer.

It should also be borne in mind that since the purpose of the HV allowance is to compensate for lost earnings, the payment of benefits and the preservation of earnings for the same period are not provided. This means that in the case of postponing the vacation, the vacation pay for the period of sick leave will have to be recalculated.
